A Reality Trip to the Dentist
Welcome to another blog entry and my Friday. TGIF! The weekend is finally here and I am glad it is finally here after a very long and busy week.
I know some of you are traveling other the Passover and Easter holidays. I wish you a great time and safe travels. Hopefully a few of you will email in pictures you took during your travels with your Dab the AIDS Bear.
I had to be up early this morning. Gary had to run by NFAN and the clinic to have his TB test read. After he finished running his early errand, I had to drive him to work since I had appointments and meetings today.
I came back to the house to have my protein shake and work on the website. I will hopefully start working out again in the next couple of days after healing from a lower back strain. I am started to feel the effects of being off the weights for two weeks. Slowly starting to lose my pump.
After my shower, I drove to BCCC for my bi-annual dental cleaning. Most of the staff are great there and I have gotten to know a few of them. The woman who normally does my cleanings and I were talking about the budget cuts. She confided she had been told there would probably be some lay offs. So I told her I would put a good word in with a friend who has her own practice. But I warned her I did not even know if my friend needed any help. I wish the best for her. I have heard from many of my friends how hard it is to get a job of any kind right now.
Then I had a meeting with Alice. I am speaking at the Rose group in a few days and wanted to cover what subject matter to gear my speech and presentation toward. We will be talking about social networking and virtual activism. I will also be covering contacting their political representatives and other elected officials concerning issues. The more voices an advocate or activist individual or organization have behind them makes the statement that much stronger with our political system. ie. The squeaky wheel gets the oil.
Alice and I also spoke about some personal concerns of hers and I told her my opinion and offered some solutions. The rest is up to her to decide. We will also be meeting with Donna Sabatino in two weeks to discuss the Rose and the project initiatives. I work with Donna in several organizations and enjoy her company. Then it was time for me to dash for my next appointment.
I had a quick meeting with the manager of my local Publix to get information on getting them as a sponsor for this year's Teddy Bear Touchdown. Ideally, I would hope for 20 - 30 food baskets to be raffled off to the children's family so they are guaranteed a decent holiday meal. Most of these kids come from very financially challenged families so I try to do everything we can for them.
Then it was time to pick Gary up from work. It is his Friday also and luckily is off tomorrow. He has been working a lot of Saturdays so I am sure he is looking forward to two days off. But he also knows how great it is to have a job when so many people are looking for anything.
We did a light dinner and I hopefully we get to bed early tonight. I have had some problems sleeping again this week. I have no doubt my lack of workouts have contributed to the problem. Luckily, they should be remedied soon.
A Safe and Happy Easter weekend everyone!
Wishing you health, hope and happiness.
Big bear hug,
