Tell Congress to Vote NO
on Ryan FY2012 Budget Plan
Welcome to another day in my life. Today is Friday and we have almost made it through another work week. I hope you have had a safe and great week so far.
You know from reading my blog, I like to keep everyone updated on what is going on with HIV and AIDS in Washington, DC.
We need your help again om telling Congress to vote NO on Ryan White FY2012 budget plan.
Call your Representative Today!Programs that benefit millions of low and middle income Americans, including those living with HIV/AIDS are on the chopping block this week.
The U.S. House of Representatives will vote Friday on House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan’s (R-WI) budget plan. The Ryan plan promises to grant tax breaks to the wealthy while simultaneously slashing funding for everything from food stamps to health care.
With at least two thirds of the proposed cuts impacting assistance programs for low income people, there is no question that the Ryan fiscal year (FY) 2012 budget will hurt millions of Americans.
Passage of the Ryan plan could result in:
Defunding of the Affordable Care Act
Elimination of Medicaid expansion to people with incomes below 133% of the federal poverty level
Reinstatement of disability requirement to access Medicaid
Skyrocketing Medicare costs
Medicare will be reduced for those who are now under 55 years of age
States cuts to state Medicaid services and eligibility
In short, the Ryan plan will make health care more expensive and harder to get. Fewer people will be able to access the care, medications, and other essential services that they need to be healthy. Tell your Member of Congress to vote NO on the Ryan FY2012 budget plan today!
