Hey Friends! The picture I used today is an AIDS Memorial Quilt Panel for Clint Humble who was an old boy friend of mine over 25 years ago. I was a guest speaker at the Minority AIDS Council Convention where his quilt panel was one of the panels featured so I had to get another pic with it. Seeing Clint's panel always brings a tear to my eyes and a tug on my heart strings. Unfortunately, Clint died during the earlier days of the HIV/AIDS epidemic and from a horrible painful opportunistic infection. I'm miss his laughter and his great smile.
Sorry I've been away from the blog for a couple of days. But that cold was kicking my butt so I've mainly been staying curled up under the comforter in bed at home. For those of you outside the north Florida area, we have been having a cold front for the past three days which has really made me want to stay warm and toasty in bed. We've had lows in the high 30's to low 40's and highs in the 50s and low 60s with a northeasterly wind which has done a ton of damage out at Jacksonville and Ponte Vedra Beaches.
So I've been staying close to home and working on this website, returning calls and emails and trying to get well for upcoming events. It's also been a great time for me to spend with my pets Harley, Sugar, Chipper and Kitty. Life can get hectic to the point where I don't spend the time I should with them so they have been great companionship and fun while I've been recovering from this blessed cold. Both of the girls recently received a home grooming before we knew the cold front was coming so they haven't been thrilled with the cold weather and their lack of winter fur. The just got their bi-monthly flea and tick treatments. Kitty is the only one who really hates the liquid on her shoulders and will take off running from you.
Tonight we had our bi-monthly HIV/AIDS support group meeting at Lutheran Social Services with 15 guys in attendance. One of our newer members made a delicious Italian meal for us which was great and very sweet of him to go to the time and trouble. We did have some heated debates with that many different personalities in the room and tons of new information to discuss but all in all it was a great and interesting meeting. Heather gave Gary and I a ride home and we discussed the meeting tomorrow since Heather will not be able to attend because of a client meeting time conflict.
I also spoke with Nathaniel earlier today to make sure I could ride with him tomorrow to the BCCC Patient Advisory Board Meeting at 10am on the 5th floor conference room. Then we'll have our monthly project meeting directly after that meeting concludes. We don't have a ton to go over but a couple of announcements and updates. I'll also need to meet with Alice, Angela and Torrencia quickly about the Teddy Bear Touchdown and fund raising.
I will be going to bed after American Idol which is currently on television since I have the meeting in the morning and want to be awake and alert. I'm sure we'll also be discussing our upcoming client picnic which is coming up in June at Riverside Park. I was hoping we could have the Champmobile from Divided We Fail and AARP but it is scheduled to be in south Florida on that Saturday. I'm sure we'll have an information and pledge card table at the event along with one for the project.
I hope you are having a great week so far! Thanks for the get well cards and wishes. They are greatly appreciated. Wishing you health, hope and happiness.
Big Bear Hug,
