Welcome to the last day of April! Can you believe four months of 2008 are already over. I can't since it seems it should be March about now to me. Seems the older I get the fast time goes by. (a sign I'm getting older??? LOL) Only problem with that is I still have a lot of living left to do so I wish I knew how to slow time down!
The weather today in Jacksonville was absolutely gorgeous. It was rather chilly first thing this morning with lows in the upper 40s which is unusually cool for this time of year here. But the temperature was already warming up before 11am with hardly a cloud in the sky. I took advantage of the great weather, donned my bathing suit and spent about an hour in the sun rejuvenating my tan. Luckily there was a breeze today to make sunning enjoyable and bearable. In a few weeks the temperature and humidity will make it unbearable after 1pm to be outside without sweating to death. Unfortunately my courtyard faces west so we don't get much sunshine before noon when the temperatures and humidity are already near there highs for the day. It's also the worse time to be sunning as far as UVA rays and the damage the sun does to the skin. I've already reached the age where I see a slight change to the texture and elasticity of my skin. Now I'm not sure if it's because I've had HIV so long or the amount of time I've spent in the sun over a lifetime. Or maybe it could a combination. I just know I have to moisturize now to keep my skin from ashing and flaking.
I spent the rest of the afternoon working on this website and making several calls. I spoke with Alice of this project and caught up on what she's been doing. Angela and she are moving their HIV/AIDS education office to a new location in order to have room for a client resource room at BCCC. It's great to here the room is finally getting set up after our advisory board has been requesting one for almost a year now. Angela, Torrencia and Alice will be going to a HIV/AIDS conference in Orlando next month. So I'm going to send some of our business cards, HIV awareness pins and Dab the AIDS Bears to help raise funds for our monthly expenses. That way all the other funds we get donated can fund Camp Hope and our Teddy Bear Touchdown.
Received a couple of emails today for an old friend who lives in Cocoa Beach, Florida with his other half. They've been together around 15 years and I'm looking forward to meeting his husband. Bill and I have known each other for over 20 years and I'm glad he met someone with whom to build a great life. He's been through a very rough time lately with his father and grandmother passing away within a month of each other. The one good thing to come out of all of it is Diane and he have reunited their friendship which was great to hear.
Speaking of Diane, I need to give her a call soon. I've been so busy we haven't spoken in a few days. She's going through a lot right now since her brother,Larry, just moved here to Jacksonville with his new wife so Diane is now the primary care giver for her mother, Sylvia. Diane was recently asked to consider being vice president of the WMU (Methodist women's organization) but due to family obligations and health reasons decided to pass on the offer which I think was wise all things considered.
Gary arrived home from work shortly after 6pm. We had spoken during the day so I knew he'd had a long day. I already had baked potatoes in the oven and the grill ready for the steaks. We ended up eating around 6:45 and everything turned out great. We had top sirloin steak tonight and they were delicious. I loaded up my baked potato with cheese, sour cream and bacon. Today was my one day of the week I allow myself to cheat and eat anything I want. I did go overboard by having an ice cream sandwich later. Guess I'll have to do extra crunches tomorrow especially now it's bathing suit weather.
Tonight was American Idol at 9pm and it was elimination night. Neal Diamond was one of their guests performers tonight and his songs were the theme for the week. Poor Brooke ended up getting voted off this week. The sweet girl was crying almost the whole way through her final performance. She was a nanny before auditioning this year for American Idol and has done a great job so I hope it leads to a career for her. Paula Abdul, one of the judges, had another rough day in the press. They insinuated she was drunk or on drugs during the taping last evening. Ryan Seacrest came to her defense during the opening of the show. I think one of the two Davids will be one of the winners but not sure which one of the two will win it all.
Really enjoyed having the day off since I was suppose to be in a meeting for most of the day. Unfortunately one of the prime people to be in attendance was unable to join us today so it's being rescheduled. So when life made me lemons, I made sunshine and got a tan. Learn from that example and always try to view the glass as half full.
So remember to look at life positively and have a great Thursday! Wishing you health, hope and happiness.
Big Bear Hug,
