Hey friends! Welcome to another day of my blog. I woke up early this morning still suffering with this cold I picked up somewhere. As much as I wanted to roll over and fall back to sleep, I knew I had to get up and get ready to attend the monthly World AIDS Week committee meeting. So I struggled through my shower and getting ready so I would be ready when my ride got her.
Beth Parker gave me a ride to our meeting. She had called before hand to let me know she is also fighting a cold and was worried about exposing me to it until I let her know that I was fighting probably the same thing. Beth is currently working her butt off working on a fund raiser for Northeast Florida AIDS Network called "Dining Out for Life." Dining Out for Life happens in several cities across the United States to raise funds for AIDS Service Organizations.
We arrived and the church where we hold our meetings to a crowded parking lot. There must have been close to thirty people in attendance today. The women of the church prepared us a great lunch to enjoy during our meeting. We had hot dogs, cole slaw, chips and salsa, and a ham/pasta casserole. They also provided sweet tea and brownies. It was so sweet of them to think about us and way beyond the call of duty.
We covered all our monthly business and everyone is on top of the ball for this early in the year. It should be another great World AIDS Week with events spanning from Monday, December 1st until Saturday, December 7th. I also announced our new board member at the project, Alice Heard, who was in attendance.
It was great seeing everyone since for some of us this is our only chance to socialize each month. Harvey was there today and is looking great for being in chemotherapy. Luckily, he seems to be doing well all things considered. I also spoke to the woman from Rainbow Clinic about getting together and hammering out an agreement for this year's Jacksonville Teddy Bear Touchdown. She is going to connect me with the person in charge at the clinic. That way we'll have everything in writing this year.
Beth was a sweetie and ran by Bank of America so I could make a deposit for the project on our way home which saved me a ton of time and effort getting back over there to do it. Then it was time for her to return to work at NFAN and we said our goodbyes.
It's another dreary day here in Florida... chilly, over cast and threat of rain all day long. So due to the nasty weather, I stayed in the rest of the day and worked on the new events posting in the Community Events section of this website. Now it would have been nice to just sleep the rest of the day away with this cold, but I knew things needed to get done and posted.
Tonight is American Idol night... one of the few shows I enjoy watching on television. We're getting down to the point where everyone is a good singer so elimination nights are going to be constant surprises. This is the first year that I thought three or four of the contestants could really make it to the top 2 so it's really anyone's game. The most important thing is song choice and then the performance itself on show night.
Going to bed early tonight because of the cold so I hope you had a great day! Wishing you health, hope and happiness.
Big bear hug,
