Welcome to my blog. It's great to have you visit a day in my life. I hope yours went great today.
I spent most of the morning sleeping since the weather here was horrible today. We had winds and rains until roughly 3pm this afternoon so it made for great sleeping weather. While I have been recuperating from my recent health problems, I have really enjoyed being able to get the rest I need by napping whenever needed and/or possible. It has been a daily ritual for Kitty to sleep on my stomach while I am napping which I really enjoy. There is something very soothing listening to her purring as I fall asleep.
I sent out an email to all my contacts today about the ADAP Waiting Lists in Indiana and Montana which I would copy the text of next. If you did not receive the email and would like to be added to my emails lists, please send me an email and put email lists in the topic line and I will be glad to add you to the list.
How's everyone doing? I hope you are having a great summer so far. Unfortunately due to health problems, I have been ordered on bed rest for several weeks by my doctors. I greatly miss seeing those of you who I normally see every month but I hope to be up and around within the next couple of months as my health hopefully improves.
The reason for today's email is once again we have American men and women on ADAP (AIDS Drug Assistance Program) Waiting Lists in the states of Montana and Indiana. (2 other states have stated they will begin waiting lists soon.) ADAP is a government program which helps financially challenged Americans to receive life saving HIV medications. Without HIV medications, a majority of men and women will eventually die from complications of HIV and AIDS. Having buried over 1000 men, women and children due to AIDS before the new HIV medications became available in 1996, it is unthinkable that we are allowing our own American citizens to die without lifesaving HIV medications.
I am counting on each of you to use the presidential candidate and state mayors contacts to voice your outrage at men and women being allowed to die on these ADAP waiting lists. The presidential candidates contact info is in the attached email. To contact the governors of Montana and Indiana:
Indiana Governor Mitchell Daniels
504 Broadway Suite 423
Gary, Indiana 46402
telephone: (219) 881-6704 FAX: (219) 881-0045
Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer
PO Box 200801
telephone: (406) 444-3111 fax: (406) 444-5529
I will be doing everything within legal limits to make the people responsible for the ADAP waiting lists in their areas to answer for their attempted murder of HIV positive men and women in our country. I am working with other organizations gathering information for a major media blitz about the ADAP waiting lists. My way of thinking is if you are going to cause stress and harm by putting people with HIV on Waiting Lists and endangering their lives... the people responsible deserve whatever nightmares I can make of their lives. Maybe that will give them a taste of what it is like to not know when you might be able to have life saving medications again. So I will be using every political and media contact I have to ensure those responsible are called to justice for their endangerment of human life.
I greatly appreciate your help helping save the lives of my HIV positive brothers and sisters.
Wishing all of you a great week.
Big bear hug,
attached message: This week, most Americans are focused more on the Olympics or their vacation plans than they are politics.
But the presidential candidates are spending August honing their plans and preparing for the final dash to the finish line. This is the time when they MUST hear from all of us who have had it with politics as usual.
If you haven't yet contacted Sen. McCain and Sen. Obama, email and ask them to tell you how they will work across the aisle for real change in America.
Already emailed? Make a bigger impact with a direct phone call! Call Sen. Obama at 1-800-891-9249 and Sen. McCain at 1-800-457-4373 and ask them how they will produce results for American families.
Thank you for standing with us in the fight to change Washington and restore the American Dream.
So I hope all of you will call and/or write both the presidential candidates and the governors addresses and numbers to help save the lives of people with HIV and AIDS.
Gary and I watched some more of the Olympics this evening. I especially enjoyed the swimming and women's gymnastics. Phelps is such a phenomenal swimmer and definitely dserved every gold medal that he earned at the Olympics. We had a quick dinner of Chicken Marsala with salad. Gary was in bed by 9pm because of being tired after a long day of work. He was working with the shipping department while they get his new computer system up and running.
So how was your day? I hope you made the most of it.
Wishing you health, hope and happiness.
Big bear hug,
