ADAP List Reaches New High
Welcome to another day in my life. Today is Monday and I hope your week is off to a safe and great start. Dab the AIDS Bear and I are back home for a few days worth of rest before our next adventure.
First, I would like to wish my partner George a very Happy Birthday! It is not easy living with an out and very busy activist. So his understanding is greatly appreciated.
Unfortunately, I have some horrible news to start off the week about the latest ADAP Waiting List report. We have 2,937 American men and women on AIDS Drug Assistance Program waiting lists as of August 13, 2010.
The following states have ADAP waiting lists: Florida: 1,178 individuals; Georgia: 339 individuals; Hawaii 15 individuals; Idaho 26 individuals; Iowa: 115 individuals; Kentucky: 246 individuals; Louisiana: 270 individuals; Montana: 7 individuals; North Carolina 192 individuals; Ohio 132 individuals; South Carolina 262 individuals; South Dakota: 25 individuals and Utah: 130 individuals.
Hopefully, these ADAP waiting list are as upsetting to you as they are to me as a long term survivor of HIV and AIDS. So what can you do? Call the White House, call your elected officials in Washington DC and call you elected state officials and demand more funding for AIDS Drug Assistance Program.
Financially challenged American men and women with HIV and AIDS are counting on your call. They should not have to live without hope now that we have life saving HIV medications.
Until we meet again; here's wishing you health, hope, happiness and just enough.
big bear hug,
