Southeast Gay Men's Health Summit

Welcome to another day in my life. Sorry I missed a few days doing blog entries while I was attending the Gay Men's Health Summit this past weekend. I hope you had a safe and great weekend as I did.

My friend, Walter, and I traveled down to Ft. Lauderdale on Thursday. We had dinner with his friend, Christine, who was wonderful. She is not only beautiful but very cerebral so we had a great time visiting. Christine, being an interior designer is one of her many talents, has a beautiful home.

Then it was off to the Embassy Suites in Ft. Lauderdale which was a gorgeous hotel. The exterior is modern and tropical with the theme continue inside the property. Cheryl, our parking attendant was the highlight of the staying experience. She was so personable with excellent customer services skills.

A beautiful fountain greets you as you enter and proceed to check in. The staff is prompt and courteous which had us to our two rooms in no time. The rooms are very spacious and luckily mine overlooked the huge pool outside with it's wonderful landscaping and huge waterfalls.

I have stayed in our Embassy Suites and this is one of their exceptional properties. I can see why the Summit plans their event at this location. With a great staff, inviting property and great location; you could easily spend your entire vacation without even leaving the hotel. But then there are many sites to see in Ft. Lauderdale so I do encourage you to enjoy the city.

But for this weekend, the trip was about the summit so we were busy from 8am until 10pm at night with events, break out sessions and some great meal time presentations. So you really didn't realize you were not out seeing the city.

For me, these events always go by so fast. I have become friends with many of the attendees who are also HIV/AIDS activists. So this is one of the times we get to see each other in person. Most of the time, we are on conference and video conference calls but not in person. Living all over the country, this gives us the opportunity for some one on one time while still meeting other attendees.

I luckily got to speak and spend some time with many of them and met some great new people. But the sad thing is there is never enough time to get to spend major time getting to know each other before the weekend is over. But that just makes you look forward to the next time you see them.

Then it was time to pack up and head back home for another busy week getting caught up before heading out for another trip.

That was my weekend. How about yours? Drop me a line and let me know.

Until we meet again; here's wishing you health, hope and happiness.

big bear hug,
