HAPPY HUMP DAY!
I hope you're having a great week so far! Still fighting bronchitis and a lung infection here so I am still on house lock down by my doctor. I have finished the antibiotics the doctor gave me at my last visit and I have to go back for another doctor visit next Monday. I was hoping to have everything cleared up by now but no such luck. Gary isn't back to 100 percent either but had to go back to work since he is out of sick days for the year.
I did work on getting things ready for my Divided We Fail event tomorrow like charging my batteries for the camera and getting everything together. That way I can rest before the event tomorrow and have some energy to enjoy it. We are meeting with a lot of the local politicians who are running for office this year. The event is being held at Metropolitan Park starting late in the afternoon so I hope there is an inside area since the temperatures will be in the high 90s. Otherwise they may be picking me up off the ground. LOL.
I have also continued working on my photography file using my new software program. Photoshop Elements 6.0 is much easier to use for cataloging and tagging my files than the previous software I was using. It's going to take awhile to import and correctly tag over 6,000 picture files that I have taken in the past 10 years. Now those are just the files I felt were worth keeping out of all the ones I have taken. I have probably taken over 20,000 pictures in the past ten years but only keep the ones I would want people to actually see due to storage limitations. Photography became a passion of mine as my modeling career was winding down in the 90s. Now I rarely go anywhere without having my camera with me even thought the bag can be very heavy when I am carrying all the lens with me.
There was a meeting of my men's support group this evening but because of my current medical problems I have not been attending the sessions. I would never want to cause someone else in my group to get sick because I was being selfish and going to group while still sick and contagious. Gary did go to our support group since he is no longer running a fever and said it was a great group. After returning home from the meeting, we sat and talked about his day and group. They had several great discussion and enjoyed hamburgers and fries from McDonald's courtesy of Heather and one of the guys in the group. Hopefully I will be feeling good enough to go to the next one in a couple of weeks.
Have you heard the latest about the presidential election here in the United States? Paris Hilton is now involved. Since Senator McCain used her image in his ad about celebrities and politics, Paris has now came out with her own version while I surprisingly found to be hilarious. I tried to find a link for Paris's version on YouTube for this blog posting but couldn't find one on there. You might be able to find the video clip using google or watching the entertainment talk shows in the next couple of days. I think I saw it while half watching either TMZ or Inside Edition.
Now a week or so ago, I told you about the news out of Canada where one of the Greyhound bus riders was murdered and decapitated by a fellow passenger. I saw an update today on CNN. Greyhound has scrapped an ad campaign that extolled the relaxing upside of bus travel after one of its passengers was accused of beheading and cannibalizing another traveler. The ad's tag line was "There's a reason you've never heard of 'bus rage.'" Greyhound spokeswoman said a billboard and some tunnel posters near a bus terminal in Toronto are still up and would be removed later in the day. Vince Weiguang Li, who immigrated to Canada from China in 2004, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of 22-year-old carnival worker Tim McLean. He has yet to enter a plea. Thirty-seven passengers were aboard the Greyhound from Edmonton, Alberta, to Winnipeg, Manitoba, as it traveled at night along a desolate stretch of the TransCanada Highway about 12 miles from Portage La Prairie, Manitoba. Witnesses said Li attacked McLean unprovoked, stabbing him dozens of times. As horrified passengers fled the bus, Li severed McLean's head, displaying it to some of the passengers outside the bus. A police officer at the scene reported seeing the attacker hacking off pieces of the victim's body and eating them, according to a police report.
The ads only appeared in Canada and that some in Ontario and western Canada have already been removed. About 20,000 inserts of the Greyhound ads were scheduled to be put into an Alberta Summer Games handbook but they stopped the presses. I guess the big question for me is how did the suspected killer get on the bus with a knife? I know when I got through security at the airports, they do everything but strip search us. Yet someone can get on mass transit like a bus with a deadly weapon with no security check points? So much for national security!
After Gary returned home from men's group last night, we ended up watching So You Think You Can Dance. Tonight was the competition finale episode for the last four dancers in the competition. The dancers left in the competition are Katee, Courtney, Twitch and Joshua. My favorites are Katee and Courtney so hopefully one of the two of them will win. All four did an excellent job especially considering they had to each learn four routines in five days for tonight's show. If I had to pick a single favorite I would have to go with Katee. She has phenomenal technique and form. Tomorrow night is the result shows where the winner will be announced. Luckily I should be home from my Divided We Fail event in time to watch it live with Gary.
Well that's about it for me. Need to head off to bed and get a good night's sleep before tomorrow's busy schedule. I hope you had a great fulfilling day also.
Wishing you health, hope and happiness.
Big bear hug,
