Thank God It's Friday!
Welcome to another day in my life. Boy has it been a very long week for me. How about you?
As you know, we are in the middle of fighting for the extension of Ryan White funding which has a sunset date of September 26, 2009. So my days are being spent on conference calls, meetings and talking with our elected officials about the funding. Too many people in our country with HIV and AIDS will die without Ryan White funding so I have to do everything in my power to make sure the funding gets renewed. While I personally could make it without the funding, I know so many who could not. And it just is not right for our country to be sending money to other countries for HIV and AIDS to not be taking care of our own citizens. I am not saying the other countries do not need the funding. I am just saying our own citizens should come first.
The big news today was the announcement that Senator Martinez will not be seeking re-election. Now because of my work with AARP and other organizations, I already knew Martinez would not be running so he can run for Governor. Our current governor will be running for Senator Martinez's seat which has already been announced. So you know whomever the governor chooses to select is going to be a lame duck to fill out the rest of Martinez's term so he can run in the next election.
This is one of the rare weekends where Dab the AIDS Bear and I will not be appearing. So I will be using the weekend to get caught up on work, start my vlog for POZIAM and spending some time with my pets. After this weekend, my schedule is pretty packed with appearances at fund raisers, AIDS walks and rides and HIV/AIDS conferences. So I will relish my free time this weekend.
I am working out again. Still doing two sets per exercise and a minimum of three exercises per muscle group. I also continue to do my three protein shakes a day to make sure as a long term survivor of AIDS that I am giving my body enough protein to keep and build muscle. Other than that I am hoping to catch up on my rest and get ready for the heavy schedule coming up for the next four months.
So what about you? What have you been up to lately and what are your plans for the weekend? Drop me a line and let me know.
Hope you have a safe and great weekend. Remember to make a special memory for yourself. Life is not a dress rehearsal. So get out and live your life.
Until we meet again; here's wishing you health, hope and happiness.
big bear hug,
