Dab the AIDS Bear Project
First I would like to welcome all of you to my blog... whether the faithful that have been reading it for months or those of you that are just now finding out about it.
I was going to do a video blog... but with my old computer and trying to find a camera that worked well... it was just too costly and frustrating. So I've decided to continue with my written one.
I hope that all of you are having a great 2008 so far. Unfortunately I started the year off sick as a dog. Both Gary and I had respiratory infections, bronchitis and other problems going on besides our HIV and AIDS. On top of all that, I had exhausted myself doing the events for kids with HIV and AIDS over the holiday season.
So I'm finally getting up and around again. This past Monday, I filmed a commercial for Divided We Fail that was started by AARP to address health care for all Americans. It was quite an honor to be asked to share my story about HIV and AIDS. I agreed in an attempt to keep HIV and AIDS in the news during this election year. It was great to finally meet Lindsey in person after speaking online for a few months.
Then on Tuesday, we had our first local World AIDS Week committee meeting since last World AIDS Day. It was great seeing Shannon, Chenita and the rest of the group. Shannon is our out going Chairman and Chenita will be replacing him. The rest of the positions are up for nominations and elections.
Earlier that day, some of us had our picture taken at city hall with the mayor of Jacksonville, John Peyton as a photo opp. Although we had to wait much longer than expected it turned out to be a good experience and I let the mayor know that if he'd ever like to form a HIV/AIDS council like most major cities to give me a call and handed him my card.
It's been very nice weather wise here in Jacksonville with highs in the 70s and low's in the 50s... but that's getting ready to change in a few days with another cold front that will be coming through.
I hope that all of you have a great weekend!
Big bear hug,
