Today was the party in Bethesda, MD where the National Institute of Health is located. I've met many children with HIV/AIDS during my participation in clinical trial studies there. If you've read the previous blogs, this is where I met the little boy David and his mom. David passed away from complications due to HIV/AIDS in December 2006 so I'm having mixed feelings wishing he was here to enjoy this. He was such a caring loving little boy.
Back in Jacksonville, we received calls about additional drop offs of teddy bears... the Jacksonville community at large has been great about contributing to these wonderful kids. Just in Jacksonville we have had a total of 700 teddy bears and stuffed toys donated so far which is also allowing us to help kids in other cities. I also have received calls from at least 3 other groups of people or organizations that will be doing drop offs this Friday of roughly another 300 teddy bears and toys.
Still sick here and just trying to make it through the week. Feels like I have a very heavy boulder sitting on my chest. Going to see the doctor in Jacksonville on Thursday.
Hope that all of you are having a great and safe holiday week.
Big bear hug,
