A Holiday Cruise

Welcome to another day in my life. Today is Saturday and I hope you are having a great weekend. I know a lot of my friends are traveling to spend time with their loved ones during the holidays so I hope you are having a great and safe time.

I have not been on line much as I have been dealing with some health issues. I would like to thank everyone for their emails and messages. You really know how to make a guy feel special and your caring words really touch me.

I was fortunate today and was invited to go on a cruise in Ft. Lauderdale with Broward House and Fusion. I met Mario, who is in charge of Fusion, this past couple of months. I must admit I am a huge fan of his and all he does for the GLBT and HIV/AIDS community.

About six pm, Dab the AIDS Bear and I headed downtown where the boat was docked. We were greeted by Mario at the dock and given our boarding pass. The boat reminded me of one that we used to have in Jacksonville on the St. John's River. About 100 people showed up for the event including a new friend of mine who does drag named Misty Eyes. She does a ton of great work for the HIV/AIDS community and is a friend of mine on Facebook. She is in the picture on today's blog with Dab the AIDS Bear.

About 7:30pm, the boat left the dock. Now this boat had three levels. When you first entered, you were greeted to a buffet and drinks. Then we went to the second level where there was a dj and dance floor. As we were leaving the dock, we went to the top level so we could see all the beautiful home decorated for Christmas. You could hear everyone oohing and aahing as we passed one beautiful waterfront home after another.

About 8pm, people started dancing to some great music provided by the dj. He was playing not only current hits but also some from the 90s and 80s. Everyone was having a great time dancing and even I cut a rug for a few songs. But to be honest, I have to admit I tired out easily after a few songs... not like I am still in my 20s or even 30s for that matter. LOL.

Then Mario had sheets with Christmas carols for everyone to sing. Now of course with this being a gay men's cruise, you know the lyrics had a twist to them. Now I will admit we did not sound that great but everyone had a great time trying to sing. But I do not think any of us should quit our days jobs and try to have a singing career! LOL

During the events, the waiters were walking around with some delicious treats for us to sample. They had mini quiches, pigs in a blanket and other great goodies. The wait staff was very courteous and friendly.

Around 8:30pm, it was time for a show featuring Misty Eyes and a good friend of hers. She did a melody of hilarious holiday songs with a twist. I was fortunate and got one of her numbers on my Flip video so I will be adding it to a blog soon. Misty is a great entertainer and I can see why she is so popular with the locals. Her friend came out and did a number after her which was cute.

Then Misty MC'd a contest to see who could blow up a condom the largest while still be able to tie it. A young guy wearing a cub cap ended up winning after a hilarious series of events. Then there was a contest to see who could put a condom on correctly. Now do not let you mind go to the gutter. They were putting the condoms on dildos not on themselves.

All to soon, the end of the cruise came and we were greeted with parting gifts as we left the boat. Then it was time to drive back to where Dab the AIDS Bear and I are staying in Wilton Manors. I know I was tired and am going to bed as soon as I finish this entry.

I hope you are doing great, having a great holiday season and taking care of yourselves.

Until we meet again; here's wishing you health, hope and happiness.

big bear hug,

Daddy Dab
