Lighting of the Tree
Welcome to another day in my life. Today is Thursday and I hope you are having a safe and great week so far. Dab the AIDS Bear and I are still on the run.
After all the excitement from World AIDS Day and speaking at two events and to the press, I woke up this morning to see our picture in the Sun Sentinel and on both Ch. 4 and 6 being featured in the World AIDS Day coverage. Talk about over exposure. LOL. But seriously, Dab the AIDS Bear and I were honored to be asked to speak at both events. We also hope you had a great World AIDS Day!
Today, I spent a lot of time getting caught up on emails, downloading a ton of pics and starting my blog about World AIDS Day. Now I still need to process all the pictures, pick out a song and do the slide show. So it is going to be a very busy week.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for showing Dab the AIDS Bear and I so much love on World AIDS Day. I would also like to thank all of our Ambassadors of Hope for all their help getting pics with their bears at World AIDS Day events from around the world. It is because of all of you that Dab the AIDS Bear is able to spread hope and joy to people living with HIV and AIDS around the world.
I made a huge pot of homemade chili today. We are finally getting some cooler temperatures in south Florida for a few days. Now cooler in south Florida means below 70. Most of the people down here start wearing coats and sweaters when the temperature goes below 70. For me, it means I can actually go outside and not sweat. I still run around in a tank top and shorts but at least I am comfortable.
This evening, Wilton Manors had the lighting of the town Christmas Tree. The great part of the event is watching the children sing and the lighting of the tree. The boring and long part is the parade of city elected officials giving their too long speeches and getting their photo ops. But I guess you have to take the good with the bad. At least it was cool enough this evening to wear a light sweater and jeans. Unfortunately, I did not see anyone I knew at the event. In fact, I saw fewer gay people at this event than at any other event I have been to since moving to south Florida.
Now I am enjoying some down time with my four legged children before heading to bed. I am actually getting to watch a couple hours of television for a change since I usually do not have the spare time to do so.
So stay tuned for the upcoming pictures and slide shows from all the events with Dab the AIDS Bear. I hope you are having the best of the holiday seasons and a great week.
Until we meet again; here's wishing you health, hope, happiness and just enough.
big bear hug,
