A Holiday Feast

Thanks for stopping by to see what is going on in another day of my life. Today is Tuesday and it is Christmas week. I hope you are having a safe and great week so far.

Today, I finally did a light leg workout after being out of the gym for a few weeks due to health problems. I know I will be sore as hell tomorrow but it felt good to do something physical again. After all, I hate it when at my age things start heading south. It is hard enough to stay in shape when you are quickly approaching fifty and have HIV wasting. But when I miss the gym for weeks, it really starts to show.

Then tonight, I was invited to a holiday buffet at Fusion to celebrate the season by Mario. Dab the AIDS Bear and I arrived around 5:15 and I was amazed how many were in attendance. There must have been around 40 guys and the place was packed. Everyone brought a side dish and there was a ton of great food. Mario had provided a turkey and a chicken.

I am still getting to know people's names and since my latest stroke I am having a harder time than ever doing so. My hearing is not the greatest in the world and it is very hard for me to single out a voice when so many are talking so I did not talk that much. But the food was fantastic and I was stuffed to the gills after eating.

At one point, they were drawing names for prizes and lo and behold my name ended up being one of the ones chosen. Each people whose name was chosen received a food basket which was a nice surprise. I also enjoyed spending time with Anthony, Roberto, Joe, George, Mario and several others. I was really impressed once again at all the hard work Mario does for the community at Fusion.

Unfortunately, I tired out very quickly and ended up leaving around 7:30pm and coming back to the house. It was all I could do to keep my eyes open. Shortly after getting home, I had to lay down and take a nap. Not sure if it was the triptophan from the turkey or if I had just overdone it during the day.

I ended up watching some television around midnight and then decided to do this blog entry. Going back to bed shortly but wanted to tell everyone about the great evening and let you know I am doing okay all things considered.

Hope you are having a safe and great week also. I know many of my friends up north are buried in snow right now which reminds me why I like living in the South. While I might have to deal with hurricanes, heat and humidity; at least I never had to dig my ass out of the sunshine! LOL

Until we meet again; here's wishing you health, hope and happiness.

big bear hug,

Daddy Dab
