Welcome to another day in my life. It is the day before Christmas and one of my favorite times of year.
While it may be unseasonably warm here in north Florida with highs in the low 70s and lows in the upper 50s, I am still in the holiday spirit. We just finished having a cold snap with lows near freezing so I will not complain about having warm weather for Christmas.
Christmas always brings back very special memories to me. From all the great memories of growing up in my close knit family to the holiday seasons I have spent with those I have loved.
My close friends know I have been collecting Christmas ornaments from all over the world since the 1970s when my grandmother started the tradition. I was on a South American cruise with them and my grandmother bought me the first of my collection.
So when you come to my house, you see a tree covered in ornaments collected from almost every continent and many countries. It is a walk down memory lane when I stand looking at the different ornaments thinking about when and where I purchased them and who I was with at the time.
Another annual Christmas tradition with my mom was her reading the Night Before Christmas on Christmas Eve right before we went to bed. Now it is hard to get to sleep when you are very young and excited about Santa Claus coming for a visit. But Mom knew how to get us boys asleep since we did not want Santa to pass our house by because of the children being awake.
So in memory of my Mom, I would like to share The Night Before Christmas With You.
Christmas is a time of special memories and family. Unfortunately, I will not be seeing my Dad, brother and his family and friends in Pensacola this year. But know all of you are in my heart as I wish you all the best for the holidays.
I have been blessed with many special memories of Christmas over the years. So here's wishing you many special memories this Christmas.
I would also like to thank my loyal readers. You not only keep my on my toes but I greatly appreciate your comments and emails.
