Let It Snow

Welcome to another day in my life. Today is Sunday and I hope you are having a safe and great Christmas weekend so far. Dab the AIDS Bear and I are enjoying a down day for the day after Christmas.

All the presents have been unwrapped. We ate way too much food yesterday. We had ham, sweet potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, corn and carrots. That was followed by pumpkin and sweet potato pies. I feel a little bit guilty being so fortunate after reading yesterday that the local food bank which provides life saving food for people with HIV and AIDS can only allow them to visit once between now and the end of February because of a local of funding. So working on a doing a food drive to help people out for the next couple of months with other community leaders.

I have been getting emails and pictures from a lot of you about the snow in your area. While we will be getting temperatures near freezing even here in south Florida, it is nothing compared to what most of you are having to endure. There are blizzards from Virginia all the way north to Maine. So I wish everyone safe travel journeys as you travel back home from your holiday destinations. Please stay warm and be safe.

Received some sad news today. A few blocks from where I lived there was a suicide/murder. The road was blocked off by our local CSI team. There was a gay couple where one had been released from the hospital and was terminal. So supposedly the partners decided to end their lives. It brought back some sad memories from the 80s and 90s when friends with AIDS would end their lives when they got very ill because back then we had no life saving medications and very little hope.

But I want to end this blog on a high note after so much discouraging news. As a community, we have to work together to help each other whether on providing food, shelter or medications to keep people alive. So if you are willing to help out and make a difference, please contact me at

Wishing all of you a safe and great weekend. Until we meet again; here's wishing you health, hope, happiness and just enough.

big bear hug,

Daddy Dab
