I rested all day today to make it to the First Coast Chorus Concert tonight. Since half of our board members and volunteers didn't show up last night... I hoped that it wouldn't be the case again on Saturday night... but it was.
Luckily, everything went smoothly with the performance. My best friend Cheryl, who is President of the Chorus, even did a very sweet moving presentation about my Teddy Bear Touchdown and the chorus presented me with roughly 100 teddy bears and stuffed animals. I've been very lucky to have sang in other choruses with a lot of these folks before several cases of pneumonia ruined what vocal skills I did have...
When the First Coast Chorus was first forming I was invited to join but was managing the Pride Store in our town at the time. But since I wasn't able to join I allowed them to practice in the back half of the store for their first two concerts. Hey... I lucked out and got to hear them every week for a year for free. Besides you have to do inventory and ordering sometime. Why not be serenaded while you're doing it?!
Besides their great performances, the chorus also donates the profits from their concerts to great organizations like the National AIDS Quilt, Hospice, AIDS Service Organizations and other like businesses.
Still feel like hell and headed to bed. Have way too much to get done in the next two weeks to be sick.
Hope that all of you are having a great weekend.
Big bear hug,
