Welcome to another day in my life. Today is Sunday and I hope you are having a beary safe and great weekend so far. It is another busy weekend for Dab the AIDS Bear and me.
Besides being an activist, I also enjoy body building and have been working out since I was a teenager because of the sports I played as a kid.
A huge part of body building besides working out is nutrition. So I read some interesting things recently about Vitamins Just D facts and the dark side of protein.

Most bodybuilders and diets prefer white meat chicken for their protein source. Look at any diet, you'll always see "Chicken Breast." Did you know that chicken thighs contain only one more gram of fat than breast-but twice as much iron and three times more Testosterone-boosting zinc. The small amount of fat can also help build more testosterone. Plus, dark meat is juicier. Sounds like a clucking win-win! Although I will admit I prefer chicken breasts myself.

Many people think 400-600 I.U. of vitamin D daily is enough. It's not, especially if you are older. Aging people need to supplement with about 5,000 I.U. of vitamin D every day to achieve optimal blood levels. This about 10 X more than the typical American takes. You should take most of your dose with a meal that contains the most fat to get maximum absorption. For many people that's the last meal of the day.
Of course, you should discuss any dietary changes or needs with your primary care physician. There might be other concerns because of your medications or other health concern. You always need to make sure there will not be drug interactions before making changes to your diet.
