Fund Raiser for our Teddy Bear Touchdowns

Welcome to another day in my life. Today is Friday and we have almost made it through another work week. I hope you are having a safe and great one so far.

I am almost finished unpacking from the move to Fort Lauderdale from Jacksonville. It is amazing how much stuff one person can collect over a nine year period. Even after giving away almost three quarters of my stuff, I still have way to much to fit into my new very small apartment. So most of it is ending up in storage until maybe I get a larger place next year.

Doing okay this week. There has been some down moments and some highs. When I take people under my wing and into my heart, it becomes very hard for me to leave. While many people might hate living in Jacksonville because of it being a redneck backward kind of place, I grew to love it over the years and was fortunate to make many great friends there.

Speaking of Jacksonville, there is a fund raiser for my Dab the AIDS Bear Project and our Teddy Bear Touchdowns for children with HIV and AIDS in a couple of weeks. Here is a video done by William Herndon about the upcoming event:

But on to another chapter of my life and I am sure I will make many new friends here. I have already made four or five through people I have met through Fusion. Fusion is an organization ran by a new friend, Mario, for GLBT. It is sort of like a community center and they have events, meeting groups, etc several times a week.

Now if you have known me for any length of time, you would know I am horrible at direction. I can literally get lost going to the bathroom at night. I am the person they make GPS for and could not live without it especially in a new city. When AARP sends me out of town, I always have a handler to make sure I get to the right spot on time. They learned the hard way I would be late if I did not have one.

While Jacksonville had a few bridges which could make it kind of hard to get around until you learned the bridges. This city is dissected by a ton of lakes which means a lot of streets end abruptly. They also have many streets with the same name or number. The only difference is whether they area street, avenue, parkway etc which will make it much harder for me to learn my way around. Luckily, the basic necessities are only a few blocks from the house like a bank, Publix, the pharmacy, a few restaurants, Fusion and a gas station.

Well I need to get back to work but wanted to say hello and let you know what is going on in my life. Drop me a line and let me know how you are doing.

Until we meet again; here's wishing you health, hope and happiness.

big bear hug,

Daddy Dab
