A Pain in the Mouth

Welcome to another day in my life. Today is Thursday and I hope you are having a safe and great week so far. Hopefully you did not have to get up as early as I did this morning.

I started off my day getting up at 6am since I had a very early appointment. I usually try to make my appointments in the afternoon since I am on disability. Mornings and I do not do very well especially since this last stroke. But since NOVA dental clinic was working me in as an emergency I had to be there early. I also had to stop by Broward House to sign a couple of more documents with Earl.

After stopping by and signing the documents, I headed over to the dental clinic. Everyone there from the front desk to the student dentist were fantastic. They did a thorough job and I am so glad to have found their services. I wish we had such level of services in Duval County where I used to live. Unfortunately, the current problem is going to require an oral surgeon so they are referring me to their oral surgeon sometime next week. They also gave me another prescription for antibiotics to take for the next ten days.

I was glad to be heading back to the house after the appointment since it was already lunch time by then. I was hungry and needed to take my morning medications. Of course, the dogs were ready to go for a walk as they looked at the cross eyed when I came through the door. Poor Chipper had not been able to wait and had made a small mess. That is why he gets put on the front tile room when I have to go somewhere and will be gone a few hours. At 16 and with cancer, Chipper can not help it so I do not get mad at him.

Speaking of Chipper, he has been needing a ton of extra attention since the recent move to Ft. Lauderdale. I know he has to be out of sort while learning a new place. See Chipper has been blind and mostly deaf since I adopted him from animal control a little over four years ago. So he relies on me for everything. Luckily, he lets me know when he needs food, bathroom or water by barking. But now Chipper has started barking when he just wants some more attention. You have to cherish the unconditional love of a pet. They do not care if you look like hell in the morning or your speech is slurred.

Then I walked up to the AHF Pharmacy near my house to turn in my prescription. That is when I found out I have to get my Ryan White authorization redone for Broward county even though I already have it for Duval County. So I came back home and called Gene who is my case manager at Broward House. Gene is going to get me in tomorrow morning so I can get my Ryan White authorization letter tomorrow morning and then I can pick up my prescription and have them pay the copay on my medication. Otherwise it would take a huge chunk out of my disability check.

I received another thinking of you card from Robyn and the gang as ASAP (the ASO in St. Petersburg, Florida) today which brought a huge smile to my face. They are a great group of people and the card was wonderful.

The rest of the day I am going to be laying low. I did not get enough sleep last night since I had to be up early and I am desperately needing a nap. So I will wrap up today's blog by hoping you have a great rest of your day.

Until we meet again; here's wishing you health, hope and happiness.

big bear hug,

Daddy Dab
