Welcome to another day in my life. Today is Friday and we have almost made it through another work week. I hope you have been having a beary safe and great week so far. Dab the AIDS Bear and I are still resting and recuperating at home after a horrible bout of the flu and fluid in my lungs.
Recently, we had the joy of watching the 40th anniversary show for Saturday Night Live. What is special about that is SNL started as a show when I was in high school and I have been watching it off and on over the forty years.
The ladies of 'Weekend Update' return to their desk for the 40th anniversary of Saturday Night Live with a cast of characters in tow, including Stefon and his husband.
The 40th anniversary special of Saturday Night Live was a revolving door of the show's most beloved characters. One highlight came when the first female anchor of "Weekend Update," Jane Curtin, returned to the desk alongside Tina Fey and Amy Poehler to reminisce about the show's early days. Curtin took aim at the Fox News Channel.
"Times have changed since I first sat behind this desk," she said. "For example, I used to be the only pretty blonde woman reading the fake news. Now there's a whole network devoted to that."
The "Weekend Update" segment also included a long list of celebrities who wanted to pay their respects by impersonating their favorite SNL characters. Emma Stone did her best impression of Gilda Radner's classic character, Roseanne Roseannadanna. Melissa McCarthy conjured up a spot-on impression of Chris Farley's motivational speaker, Matt Foley. Edward Norton also stepped in to try his best impression of Stefon, before being interrupted by the real Stefon and his husband, Seth Meyers.
During a hard time for me, watching this show brought some smiles and laughs which were greatly appreciated. The downside is seeing all the people who are no longer alive... too remindful of people in my life who are gone.
Hope you have a beary safe and great Friday!
Until we meet again; here's wishing you health, hope, happiness and just enough.
