Rush Limbaugh Calling the Shots

Thanks for joining me and checking out another day in my life. We are still having freezing temperatures here in north Florida but luckily will see a warming trend starting on Sunday. (Finally!)

I started off my day as usual with a protein shake followed by my workout. Today was shoulders, forearms and legs day which is one of my most exhausting. Something about lifting or pushing heavy weights with my legs just wears me out. So after returning home, I took a nap for a couple of hours.

After getting up from my nap, it was time to take care of catching up on emails and phone calls. I also had to get everything ready for our event tomorrow at Edward Waters College. Tomorrow is national Black HIV/AIDS awareness day so we are participating at our local minority college event. Lisa Barton and Beverly Bolton are great about letting us know about their events so we can help out. This is our fourth year attending events at their college and I am very grateful for the donations Edward Waters College have given to project to help us keep up and running. I will be writing more about their event tomorrow.

But now on to the subject for today. I think all of us over 25 knows who Rush Limbaugh is. I personally have never been a fan but I know he has a huge following. Well Rush is back in the news again after recent statements.

This is just more proof that this is, in fact, your grandfather's Republican Party comes from Rush Limbaugh's recent rise back to the top of right wing leadership.

Last month, Limbaugh actually said on his radio show that he "hopes [Obama] fails." That's right - we're facing the worst economic crisis in a generation and wars on two fronts, and Rush Limbaugh is rooting against the President's success.

It is infuriating, especially after all those lectures about patriotism from the other side.

But to Republicans, Limbaugh's words are not outrageous - they are marching orders. How else do you explain that every single House Republican voted against President Obama's economic stimulus package to provide urgently needed jobs and get the economy moving again?

Limbaugh railed against the plan on the radio, and House Republicans toed the line. Limbaugh and his listeners even chastised one Republican Congressman into apologizing for having the nerve to claim that Rush did little more than "throw bricks," instead of trying to get something done.

The American people have overwhelmingly voted for change. This country is facing massive challenges. And Rush Limbaugh is the leader Republicans are turning to for guidance.

No wonder they keep losing.

I hope each of you has a safe and great weekend. Take the time to smell the roses and enjoy what the weekend brings you which is hopefully at least one great memory.

Wishing you health, hope and happiness.

Big bear hug,

Daddy Dab
