Thank You Is Not Enough
Welcome to another day in my life. It is Super Bowl Sunday and I hope you are having a great and safe weekend so far.
As most of you know I am in the process of moving from Jacksonville to Ft. Lauderdale. I arrived in Wilton Manors late yesterday worn out and exhausted. But at least I made it in one piece. So today and tomorrow are for unloading the Uhaul and getting things unpacked. I remember why I hate moving now.
I need to thank everyone who helped on this weekend with my move. Members of my men's support group, Lutheran Social Services, Beth from NFAN, Michael, Ebony and her other half from Facebook and Teresa; thanks does not begin to cover my appreciation for all your help. I could not have done it without you. And George, well, without you the move would not have happened. I could not have done it without you. While I may no longer be in Jacksonville, you will all remain in my heart forever.
Gary and I had a couple of talks over the weekend. While it is also sad saying goodbye to someone you were partners with for a long time at least we got some closure and hopefully will be able to stay friends. Although living in different cities, we will not see each others much. I wish him the best and hope the best for him.
Then today, Wesley showed up with donuts in hand to help George and I unpack the Uhaul. We got almost half the van unpacked and most of it into the storage unit. I made an appointment with Two guys with Muscle to help with the heavy things tomorrow morning about two weeks ago. I tried to call them today but got their recorder so I hope they remember. I also sent them an email but have not heard back from either so keeping my fingers crossed they show up.
Luckily, my neighbor Mark is off tomorrow and has offered to help if they do not show up. George also has another friend who has offered before if we need him.
So I am truly blessed to have all of these wonderful people in my life who are willing to help someone in my hour of need. I am not very good at asking for help. I have always been the one to take care of others and not the other way around. So I am still learning to ask when I need some help or something else. I guess a part of me still plays the old tape that a man should take care of himself AND his family.
Unfortunately, I am now at an age and level of health that I need help from others. And a part of me does not like that fact. In fact, I hate it. I have always been able to do for and take care of myself. So I am having to learn to deal with the reality of not being able to do so.
The Super Bowl is getting ready to start. This year, the Colts are playing the Saints in Miami Garden, Florida. CBS is covering the game this year. Since neither team is one of my favorites, I will be rooting for the Saints since I live in New Orleans for a very short time many years ago.
It will be interesting to watch the commercials. For what they cost, you know they better be outstanding. I have heard Doritos is going to have a hilarious commercial featuring a dog and his master. And you know what a dog lover I am. Monster.com is suppose to have a great one with beavers also from what I have heard. Bud Light and Go Daddy always have some great commercials also.
Going to close for now to watch the game. Drop me a line and let me know how your weekend has been going.
Until we meet again; here's wishing you health, hope and happiness.
big bear hug,
