Hotel Palomar
In Search of Excellent Service

Thanks for joining me for another day in my life. After getting up early with Gary and getting him off to work, it was time to dig in and get caught up after my trip to Los Angles, California.

I will not bore you with all the details about the meetings, emails and telephone calls which made up the majority of my day. So today I would like to talk about a wonderful experience I recently had while in Los Angeles.

As I have spoken about in my last few blogs, I was in LA because the FOX network had a contest about "24 Heroes" and my work with HIV and AIDS was chosen as one of the winners. My partner and I were provided with accommodations at the beautiful Hotel Palomar in Westwood which is owned by the Kimpton Hotel Chain. Kimpton Hotels Tell A Story: Hotel Palomar Los Angeles - Westwood is Art in Motion.

The hotel places a special emphasis on the unique art of our location in the center of the entertainment industry. Reflecting the energy and glamour of the dynamic motion picture industry, guests of the Hotel Palomar become insiders to what is current and exciting in film, from the emerging independent directors to cutting edge special effects technology. Art is set in motion throughout the hotel, from the vibrancy of the décor to the ease of the amenities to the hospitable service, leaving each Hotel Palomar Los Angeles - Westwood guest inspired and planning their next stay before the credits ever roll.

There were so many things to love about the experience of staying at the Hotel Palomar. First, I loved the fact they are eco-friendly. For you pet lovers like me, they are also very pet friendly. Hotel Palomar also has complimentary in room wireless high-speed Internet access, state of the art fitness center and outdoor swimming pool.

Each evening you can join in their lobby living room for a glass of wine and the company of the other hotel guests. (You never know what celebrity might be staying at the hotel. I got to meet the Osbournes and Kiefer Sutherland.)

If you are an AAA or AARP member, they also have discounts for both organization's members which is important in our current economy.

Then when you arrive to your room which were beautifully designed rooms by Beverly Hills designer Cheryl Rowley; the doors are opened for you to a beautiful, relaxing atmosphere. Our room was located on the 14th floor and had a beautiful, panaromic view of the city. Due to my back problems, a great bed is a necessity for me to be able to rest. Well, I had no problem sleeping at the Palomar. From a king bed with great bedding to the extra thick absorbent towels, every amenity is first class.

But what was the most impressive was the excellent customer service of the staff. Strictly 5 star treatment at the Palomar. Every employees greets you on sight. This type of service is what makes a hotel stay a complete experience.

Another thing I immediately noticed on their website and upon entering my hotel room is the hotel chain donates money for HIV and AIDS organization with their Red Ribbon program. Not that a red ribbon catches my eye or anything! You have to love a company who gives back to great causes.

Finally, the location is perfect. They are located in Westwood on Wilshire Blvd. which is close to everything from the Getty Museum, Grahman's Theater, Beverly Center, Beverly Hills, West Hollywood and Hollywood. Santa Monica and Venice Beaches are just a short drive away.

There general manager, John Douponce, runs a first class ship in first class hotel. They can handle your banquet, special event, wedding or holy union with style and wonderful catering in a beautiful setting.

Now I will admit while all the staff were extremely friendly, courteous and helpful; I had a personal favorite and she is one of the first people you meet when checking in at the hotel. Her name is Keri and not only does she go above and beyond the call of duty in helping hotel guests but does so while being personable, friendly and courteous. So make sure you tell Keri, Daddy Dab said hello.
