Petition Delivered to Governor Scott

Welcome to another day in my life. Today is Tuesday and I hope you are having a safe and great week so far. It is another busy day for Dab the AIDS Bear and me. Today, we will be participating in a clinical trial study at Nova Southeastern University and also have a couple of other meetings to attend.

A few weeks ago, I blogged about the petition started by Elton John for Florida Governor Rick Scott about the ADAP crisis in our state. Dab the AIDS Bear Project was one of the many organizations which signed onto the petition. Many of our Ambassadors of Hope and friends also signed onto the petition.

Well, I just received word that the Elton John AIDS Foundation had delivered the petition to Governor Scott. The following is the message I received from the organization:

As you know, the Elton John AIDS Foindation (EJAF) recently conducted a petition drive to urge Florida Governor Rick Scott not to enact a dangerous proposal that would strip antiretroviral medication from thousands of low-income Floridians living with HIV/AIDS. I'm thrilled to report that more than 4,200 friends and supporters of EJAF have signed the petition, which EJAF founder Sir Elton John and chairman David Furnish forwarded today to Governor Scott along with a personal letter expressing their continued and growing concern.

EJAF is extraordinarily grateful to all of our grantees, supporters, and friends who signed the petition and spread the word to friends, family, and colleagues. With your help, we've delivered a strong message to Governor Scott, and also a message of hope to those in Florida living with HIV/AIDS.

But this issue is far from resolved, and the lives of thousands of women and men in Florida are still in jeopardy. In the coming weeks and months, EJAF will continue to monitor, raise awareness about, and work to positively resolve the critical public health decisions being weighed in Florida and across the nation. With your continued support and activism, I believe we can make a difference.

Thank you again for lending your voice to this important effort and, as always, we are deeply grateful for your interest and involvement in EJAF’s urgent, life-saving work.

Hopefully, the petition will make our Governor think twice before endangering the lives of thousands of Floridians living with HIV and AIDS. This also shows you that you can make a difference by taking a couple of minutes to sign onto a petition.

Hope you have a great Tuesday!

Until we meet again; here's wishing you health, hope, happiness and just enough.

big bear hug,

Daddy Dab
