Dab the AIDS Bear featured in ABC Soaps in Depth

Welcome to another day in my life. Today is Wednesday and we have made it to the middle of another work week. I hope you are having a safe and great one so far.

I spent most of the day trying to get caught up on emails and messages. While I am very grateful for all those who are reaching out, sometimes it can be hard to keep up with all the request since I do them all personally. So if you are currently waiting on a reply, I am about a day and a half behind currently and will hopefully be caught up before I leave for Washington, DC this weekend.

Speaking of appearances, ABC Soaps in Depth magazine (July 13, 2009 issue) has Dab the AIDS Bear featured in a story on page 20. The article is in the "On the Town" section of the magazine and is on POZ magazine's Love Out Loud fundraiser for the NYC AIDS Walk we did over a month ago.

There are several pictures talking about the event. Then they have one of All My Children's Thorsten Kaye (Zach) holding Dab the AIDS Bear. My bear was the unofficial mascot of the evening. I was psyched when Giovanni mailed me a copy of the magazine for my records. It is only the third time Dab the AIDS Bear has been featured outside of GLBT and HIV publications. The other two times were with AARP and VolunteerMatch.org. So run out and get yourself your copy today and email the magazine and tell them thanks for featuring Dab the AIDS Bear.

I also tuned into the POZIAM Radio Show today. Brryan, the guest, was infected by his father as a child in hopes of the father killing his son to get out of paying child support. But Brryan has rose above his childhood and spends his time teaching about HIV and AIDS. In fact, he was doing the interview from a children with HIV and AIDS camp where he is a counselor. Brryan was very eloquent and well spoken. I was impressed how he has made a negative into a positive and working to help others. I plan on asking him to become one of our Ambassadors of Hope.

This evening, we had our men's HIV support group at Lutheran Social Services. Gary and I were late getting to the meeting because of a bad wreck on the interstate. The traffic was back up for four exits before ours. So we were about 15 minutes late getting there. We had a large group tonight with almost 20 guys there. Several people had brought food and the meeting seem to be over way too quick. Our group can get in some great discussions which make time fly by. Heather and I also showed the men the different HIV social networking sites.

Well I am off to bed soon after a long day. Still hoping my back will be a lot better before my next trip. I hope you have a great Thursday.

Wishing you health, hope and happiness.

big bear hug,

Daddy Dab
