St. Petersburg AIDS Walk
Welcome to another day in my life. Today is Monday and I hope you had a safe and great weekend. It was another busy one for Dab the AIDS Bear and me. Hopefully, I will have a ton of pictures processed and a slide show made in the next couple of days.
I received the picture for the blog today from the AIDS Walk committee in St. Petersburg, Florida. They have honored Dab the AIDS Bear and I by featuring the bear in their public relations and advertising for their AIDS Walk this year. We will also be the main speaker at their AIDS Walk this year so we are looking forward to seeing all our old friends and making more new ones.
I received some distressing news that an old friend has been arrested and not receiving his HIV medications while in jail. After making several calls, I found out jails and prisons do not have to get HIV medications to the inmates due to a lot of loopholes in the laws and requirements. I also found out outside organizations and individuals actually have no pull without the legal institution infrastructure. So to my HIV positive friends, please make sure you do not do anything to get into trouble. You get a whole other set of problems if you do.
I also heard an old friend passed away this past Saturday after a long bout with cancer. Morris was a loving and caring soul from Los Angeles who I met years ago through his volunteering with AIDS Project Los Angeles. We will miss you brother and hope you rest in peace. Until we see each other again, we will never forget you.
So this is another time that reminds us that none of us are guaranteed tomorrow. Please remember to tell those you care about that you love them. You never know when you might not get another chance.
Well the bear and I need to get running. We will be flying out of Pittsburgh airport in a few hours and we still have to finish waking up, packing and taking care of last minute things.
Hope you have a great Monday!
Until we meet again; here's wishing you health, hope, happiness and just enough.
big bear hug,
