ADAP Crisis Summit
Welcome to another day in my life. Today is Thursday and it has been a long and busy week for Dab the AIDS Bear and me. I hope you have been having a safe and great week also.
Dab the AIDS Bear and I headed for Washington DC and the ADAP Crisis Summit which was hosted at the Westin City Center Hotel by the ADAP Advocacy Association. After our two and a half hour flight from Fort Lauderdale, we arrived at our hotel, changed clothes and headed down for the conference.
Over the next two days, we not only got to see some of our great friends who are fellow activist but also got to meet some great new folks. Here is the first slide show from our trip:
While in Washington DC, we did get to see a couple of our local friends and had dinner with Justin at Annie's Steakhouse. I know some do not like Annie's but it has been one of my favorite spots for almost twenty years and I try to make it at least once on each trip.
After attending the conference, it was then time for Dab the AIDS Bear and I to hit the Hill and speak with the staff of several Senators about passing the Emergency ADAP funding bill. We met with the staff from Senator Reid, Senator Burr, Senator LeMeiux and Senator Nelson. Everyone was great and one of our two Senators has already signed on to the bill. I am hoping to hear from the staffer at Senator Nelson's office in the next couple of days.
All too soon, it was time to head to Regan National Airport for our flight back home. By the time we landed back in Fort Lauderdale at 10pm, we were both exhausted and ready for bed time.
Now we have to rest up for our next trip and adventure this coming weekend.
Until we meet again; here's wishing you health, hope, happiness and just enough.
big bear hug,
