Dab the AIDS Bear in London
Welcome to another day in my life. I hope you are having a safe and great weekend so far.
After long flights on a couple of planes, Dab the AIDS Bear is in London for their Crusaid Walk for Life tomorrow. We would like to thank our hosts and sponsors Jochen and Adrian for making this a memorable and fantastic trip. I owe a special thanks to Jochen whose father passed away last week. Jochen is so dedicated to the walk that he headed directly after the funeral from Germany back to London to be here. Know you are in my thoughts and prayers. While both Jochen and Adrian are HIV negative, they have several friends who are HIV positive here in London and are a driving force for awareness and fund raising for the community.
London is as beautiful as I remember it from my last trip over a decade ago. With all the great architecture and history every where you look, I could easily have spent a month here exploring. Today we took time to ride around and take some pics which I will post after we get back to the states and settled next week. It has been one of those trips where you want to savor every moment and never want the trip to end.
Luckily, there is a very active community here as opposed to most cities, except the largest, in the states. Now the big exceptions are of course New York City, San Francisco and a couple of others. Surprisingly, Los Angeles had a poor turnout for their rally about the state HIV budget cuts which was sad to hear. Our Ambassador there, Kengi, showed up for the event and was very disappointed about the turnout. I guess Dab the AIDS Bear and I need to make a trip to Los Angeles and stir things up a bit!
We are getting ready to head out to the tube and grab some grub so I hate to make it short but will sign off for now. If you see Queen Elizabeth, tell her Dab the AIDS Bear is looking for her for a photo op! LOL
Wishing you health, hope and happiness.
big bear hug,
