Positive Living Conference
Welcome to another day in my life. Today is Friday and we have made it through another work week. I hope you have had a safe and great week.
This weekend is the 12th Positive Living Conference in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Unfortunately due to health reason, this is the first year I will not be at the conference in several years. So I will miss getting to see Butch and the rest of my friends who I normally get to see.
I know several members of my Lutheran Social Services HIV/AIDS support group for men are attending. The donations I gave helped pay for their trip and attendance which makes me feel great. I know some of them live on a very slim social security monthly check and otherwise would not be able to attend.
Heather is having a table with out handouts, our Dab the AIDS Bears and our HIV/AIDS awareness pins. She messaged me about many people asking where I was and that I was missed which made me feel good. I know she will do a great job representing our organization. I am looking forward to the pictures which are taking with people holding Dab the AIDS Bear in support of people living with HIV and AIDS.
A couple of my friends from the Fort Lauderdale area made the twelve hour drive to be there. I was even asked if I wanted to ride with them. But my health still is not where I have much energy or stamina so regretfully I declined. Hopefully, I will be able to make it next year. I will likely get to see some of them at the Gay Men's Health Summit which is here this fall.
I did go up to the local AHF Pharmacy today to try and get a prescription filled since they are only a couple of blocks from the house. I was once again treated poorly to the point I consider just this side of rude which really surprised me because the AHF Pharmacy in Jacksonville is just the opposite. I had always received great service from the Jacksonville crew who really care about their client. Obviously, that is not the case with the AHF Pharmacy here in Fort Lauderdale. So after I came home, I called Comcare Pharmacy and will be meeting with them on Monday to transfer my medication services to them.
I also had my head shaved at Mark's Haircuts for Men. Mark and his partner Chris are my neighbors and does a great job cutting my hair. We always have a good time talking. I was telling him about what happened at AHF and he said he was not surprised because he had several complaints about them.
I had also posted something on Facebook about what happened at AHF Pharmacy and a local friend let me know they have gone through three pharmacists in the past six months. So there is obviously a problem there and I know it is not just me. Too bad since they will give the whole organization a bad name. I guess I should contact my old friend who used to be on their board of directors and let him know what is happening here. Maybe he can talk to the current board and replace the staff so the clients get the services they deserve.
Enjoying a quite night at home even though it is Friday night. Sitting here doing my blog and then going to answer some email and then watch some television.
Hope you have a great and safe weekend.
Until we meet again; here's wishing you health, hope and happiness.
big bear hug,
