Welcome to another day in my life. Today is Thursday and we have almost made it through the middle of another work week. Yesterday was also the 31st birthday of Dab the AIDS Bear.
If you have never heard of Dab the AIDS Bear, I started giving teddy bears to friends and my first partner in 1981 because they were dying in quarantine from GRID (Gay Related Immune Deficiency - what HIV was originally called.) It was the way I was able to show them that someone care, they were loved and the bear gave them something to hold onto while they were dying.
I never thought this simple act of kindness would turn into the symbol of love for people with HIV and AIDS like it has over the years. The bear and I are so honored and moved to have the love showed to us over the yeas, the way it has been.
Here is a slide show I did for the 31st birthday for Dab the AIDS Bear:
Hope you enjoyed the slide show. But most of all we would like to thank everyone who has supported and loved Dab the AIDS Bear over the year. It is because of all of you we are able to help not only children with HIV/AIDS but all people with HIV and AIDS.
Hope you have a great day!
Until we meet again; here's wishing you health, hope, happiness and just enough.
