March 1, 2008
Hey friends! I know it's been a couple of weeks since my last entry and I'd like to apologize. I've been very busy with Divided We Fail, this project and giving speeches... DC, Florida, Texas and other points have gone by in the blur that is my life lately. Some days I wake up and have to think what city I'm in and what I'm supposed to be doing that day... and I don't even have Alzheimer's yet! Thank God for small miracles.

We had our monthly HIV community luncheon last week and I met the rep for Sculptra. Rick gave an excellent presentation and answered the questions effectively for the crowd attending. Some people might consider the product only cosmetic... but as someone that has suffered from HIV wasting for many years; I can understand how it can affect someone's state of mind. Now given I'm gay and an ex-model so I might be more sensitive to appearance issues then most people... but doesn't everyone want to look their best. And I think this especially applies to people fighting chronic and terminal illnesses. It's bad enough having to take all the meds, suffer side effects, costs, etc. but damn it; I want to look good doing it! So kudos to Rick and Sculptra for providing the food and the presentation. I'm going to speak to Heather about us booking him for a presentation to the support group we run together.

We also have an HIV convention coming up this next weekend that I'm looking forward to attending. The national director of the National Association of People With AIDS is one of the speakers and I am looking forward to hearing his presentation and meeting him. I also have many friends from Jacksonville and other cities that will be there so it should be a great time. Unfortunately the weather is suppose to be very chilly to cold so it won't be great weather for being at the beach on the Gulf Coast... but that's the only downside.

For those of you that have never been to the Gulf Coast, it has some of the most people beaches in the world... crystal blue and green waters, sugar white sands, sea oats and sun sun sun... well at least when the weather is warm enough to enjoy it. They're expecting highs in the high 40s and lows in the 30s while we're there.

I'm taking time off the next couple of days since I'm home to get ready for the trip. Need to run errands, get meds filled, hair cut, etc. and I've gotten a little run down with my schedule being so hectic the past few weeks.

I also will be meeting with an organization in the next couple of weeks about falling under their 501(C)3 until we can afford our own. It's an organizations that I've known about since they started and they do great work so I'm excited about meeting with them. A couple of their board members also listened to my speech at the minority summit in Jacksonville at the Wyndham a few weeks ago.

Hope that all of your are having a great month so far! I promise to try and write more entries this month. Wishing all of you health, hope and happiness.

Big bear hug,

Daddy Dab
