ADAP Waiting List Update
Welcome to another day in my life. Today is Sunday and I hope you are having a safe and great weekend so far. Dab the AIDS Bear and I are busy packing for our trip to the Positive Living Conference in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
I just received the latest update for the ADAP waiting list for our country and unfortunately we have reached another all time high for the number of people on the waiting list.
ADAPs with Waiting Lists (6,972 individuals in 11 states*, as of March 3, 2011):
Arkansas: 42 individuals
Florida: 3,503 individuals
Georgia: 1,074 individuals
Idaho: 7 individuals
Louisiana: 732 individuals**
Montana: 20 individuals
North Carolina: 133 individuals
Ohio: 449 individuals
South Carolina: 507 individuals
Virginia: 502 individuals
**Louisiana has a capped enrollment on their program. This number is a representation of their current unmet need.
ADAPs Considering New/Additional Cost-containment Measures (before March 31, 2011***)
Alabama: cap enrollment, establish waiting list (as of April 1, 2011), reduce formulary
Colorado: institute client cost sharing
Idaho: establish waiting list
Kentucky: reduce formulary
Oregon: reduce formulary
Puerto Rico: reduce formulary
South Carolina: disenroll 200 clients
Virginia: transition 760 clients onto waiting list
Washington: reduce formulary
Wyoming: reduce formulary
So once again, Dab the AIDS Bear and I are going to ask you to contact your elected officials in Washington, DC and speak to them about additional funding for ADAP. Americans with HIV and AIDS are counting on your help.
Until we meet again; here's wishing you health, hope, happiness and just enough.
