Welcome back for another day in my life!
Today is Saturday and the day started off beautiful outside. It was slightly overcast with a nice breeze first thing in the morning. Gary had to work today so we were both up early around 5:30am. I felt him get out of bed which woke me up and then felt the pain in my right arm which prevented me from being able to return to sleep. So I decided to get up and get my day started. I needed to get some things done around the house while Gary was at work like doing the laundry and straightening up the house. After getting several loads of laundry, cleaning the dishes and taking care of the pets; I decided to take a short nap before Gary was to get home. I think I got about 30 minutes of sleep before I heard the door open and the dogs start barking.
The weather by mid day was steamy and hot so neither of us felt like getting out in it. We're also to the time of year where the sun's rays feel like they are burning your skin after twenty or thirty minutes. We ended up vegging on the couch with the pets for a couple of hours and I made us a treat to enjoy. While I was shopping at Publix the other day, I picked up the ingredients for strawberry shortcake including both flavors of whip cream (chocolate and strawberry). I like yogurt with mine but Gary likes his the old regular way. The hot weather made the perfect day for such a treat. I need to put some weight back on anyway.
Gary was tired from working today so he went to take a nap for a few hours. While he was sleeping, I worked on this website and then started dinner. I made loaded baked potatoes, NY strip steaks on the grill and creamed corn for tonight's dinner. It turned out delicious if I do say so myself. The steaks were a great lean cut and on sale which made them even tastier. Speaking of cost, I can not believe how expense steaks are getting not to mention all the other groceries. NY strips are up to $9.99/lb in my area and luckily these were on sale for $7.99/lb so I picked up a couple of packages while they were on sale. It was blazing hot outside while I was grilling but luckily our grill area is in the shaded part of the court yard under the grape vine. Later, I made us an ice cream treat for dessert before bed time. Gary has already headed off to bed about an hour ago as I am finishing this up and getting ready to head to bed myself.
It was a pretty low key day but exactly what I was needing. I know after working this morning Gary wanted some down time also. The summer heat and humidity can make for some lazy days here in Florida.
I hope you had the kind of day you hoped for also and made a special memory or two. Have a great day again tomorrow. Remember to stop and smell the roses. Wishing you health, hope and happiness.
Big bear hug,
