25th Annual AIDS Walk NYC
Welcome to another day in my life. Today is Sunday and I hope you are having a safe and great weekend so far. Today is also the 25th annual AIDS Walk NYC!
It is going to be a great day with Dab the AIDS Bear seeing old friends and making many new ones. Dab the AIDS Bear has been a fixture at the walk for many years.
Schedule of Events for today
8:30 a.m. - Sign-In Opens
9:00 a.m. - Aerobic Warmup
9:15 a.m. - Opening Ceremony
10:00 a.m. - AIDS Walk New York.
As always, the AIDS Walk starts and ends at Central Park. There will be booths for vendors including organizations, entertainment and food which you definitely do not want to miss after the walk. It is also a great time to people watch and take pictures.
And as always, I will be posting a slide show featuring pictures from the AIDS Walk NYC later in the week. So stay tuned for that since I have a special surprise coming with the slide show this year.
Since 1986, AIDS Walk New York has raised more than $105 million for HIV programs and services in the tri-state area, and has grown into the largest AIDS fundraising event in the world.
In 2009 alone, 45,000 participants, many of whom were members of 2,880 corporate and community teams, raised a record sum of over $5.6 million for Gay Men's Health Crisis (GMHC) and 50 other local AIDS service organizations.
GMHC is the world's first and leading provider of HIV/AIDS prevention, care and advocacy. Building on decades of dedication and expertise, GMHC understands the reality of HIV/AIDS and empower a healthy life for all. Since before AIDS had a name and until the epidemic is over, GMHC will continue to fight AIDS and love life. Click here for more information about GMHC.
