South Carolina ADAP Rally
Welcome to another day in my life. Today is Thursday and I hope you are having a safe and great week so far.
It has been a very rough week for people in our country living with HIV and AIDS. This is because of several reasons. First, we already have ten states with ADAP waiting lists with almost 1,100 American men and women on them. Now Florida is starting an ADAP waiting list on June 1, 2010. I just received information yesterday Illinois is also going to be starting an ADAP waiting list.
If you read my blogs regularly then you know we had an ADAP rally at the state capitol in South Carolina on Tuesday where their elected officials are trying to cut all state funding for HIV and AIDS. South Carolina already had an ADAP Waiting List. In fact, it is the fourth year they have had a waiting list. Hundred of people showed up for the rally to protest cutting their HIV funding.
They say pictures can say a thousand words. By the slide show, you can see the anguish, anger and frustration in the eyes of the people in South Carolina because of the needless and merciless deaths of people with HIV and AIDS.
Yesterday was the National Call-in Day about the ADAP Crisis where we had people from all over the country call President Obama and their elected officials. I heard from several people they had trouble getting through which hopefully means at least tens of thousands of people were calling all at once. If you were not able to get through yesterday, I encourage you to call again today.
Until we meet again; here's wishing you health, hope, happiness and just enough.
big bear hug,
