Telephone Conference with President Obama

Thanks for checking out another day in my life. Today is Thursday and it has been another busy week.

I had a doctor's appointment first thing this morning about my stomach problems again. Still having problems with ulcers from very long term use of several medications for my HIV and neuropathy problems. So we are seeing what we can do to fix the issues.

Then I had to get some more Dab the AIDS Bears off UPS. One is going to some new friends in Canada who do a lot with the rodeo circuit and other events. The other is going to one of the teams in the San Diego AIDS Walk which is in August. So your Dab the AIDS Bears should be to you in the next five business days. Thanks for your help folks! You're the best. I look forward to your pics as you help spread Dab the AIDS Bear's 28 year message of hope.

After lunch time, I was invited to a conference call on health care issues with President Obama. The call opened with several people from the Obama team and supporters. Then President Obama came on the line and made some statements about reforming health care in the United States. During the first call we could not ask any questions and it was mainly informative. Then we had received a link for a second call which started about a half hour after the first call ended. This one consisted of roughly one hundred people from all walks of health care and activism covering a majority of major illnesses and fields. Some names I recognized as lobbyists in DC while other were activists I have heard of from many different causes over the years. At least we were able to send statements and ask questions which supposedly are going to be answered in another call in about a month. Now you have to realize this is the kind of controlled atmosphere politicians are wise to use when attempting this kind of initiative. It not only gets community support but the buy in of lobbyists and activists. So there is hope since discussions have started. Stay tuned for future developments.

Then it was time to catch up on emails and calls since I had been on the phone for almost three hours. I do not like getting behind because I know how easily it can snowball and then I start to feel overwhelmed. With some of the emails being from distraught individuals who have recently found out their HIV status, I know it helps to get an answer as quickly as possible. So I try to make that happened as often as I can.

I talked with my wonderful friend Gio in New York today. He has been such an angel to me this year. While he may not consider all the helps he gives people and organizations helping our community a big deal. I just want him to know how much it does mean and how much it is appreciated. You are one in a million Giovanni! Big bear hug to you. I look forward to seeing you soon. Be glad to help with your events.

I must admit I am glad the work week is almost over. It has been a very busy long week and I have not been sleeping well at all. So my energy is definitely not at it's highs. I am looking forward to a nice slow relaxing weekend.

How about you? How is your week going? Drop me a line and let me know.

Wishing you health, hope and happiness.

Big bear hug,

Daddy Dab
