Welcome to another day in my life. Today is Friday and we have almost made it through another work week. I hope you have had a safe and great week so far.
Today is also my Dad's birthday. I wish I could have been in Pensacola to celebrate his day with him but Dab the AIDS Bear and I are in the middle of three weeks of appearances, meetings, interviews and fighting the lowering of Ryan White eligibility.
My Dad is wonderful and I can not thank him enough for always being in my corner. I know it has not always been easy for him to do so. No one plans on having a gay or lesbian child, much less one who is one of the first diagnosed with an illness like HIV which is so stigmatized. But both of my parents believe in family first and he has always loved me unconditionally. So to my Dad, I wish you a very Happy Birthday and many more to come! I will see you in December when I come to speak at the World AIDS Day event in Pensacola.
Yesterday, Jason King and I flew to Tampa for the third meeting with the Florida Department of Health concerning the lowering of Ryan White eligibility which will endanger the lives of thousand of Floridians living with HIV and AIDS.
After getting to the airport at 5am, flying to Tampa, having a quick breakfast at IHOP and then heading to the location of the meeting; we were glad to see a couple hundred of people living with HIV and AIDS from Tampa, St. Petersburg, Orlando and surrounding areas.
The slide show below features pictures from the meeting:
I hope you enjoyed the slide show and pictures. Hope you can make the last meeting in Miami, Florida on Monday, May 9th. It is our last chance to speak out as a group to the Florida Department of Health and prevent the needless deaths of Floridians living with HIV and AIDS.
Until we meet again; here's wishing you health, hope, happiness and just enough.
