Love Out Loud
Thanks for joining me in another day of my life. We have almost made it through another work week. I hope it has been a great one for you as well.
Today I have been concentrating on getting ready for the Mother/Daughter HIV prevention banquet this weekend. I like to be prepared ahead of time so I do not have to run around the day before or day of the event. I am looking forward to getting some great pics of the ladies with Dab the AIDS Bear at the event.
Speaking of Dab the AIDS Bear, there is a new campaign on the Love Out Loud website for him. The wonderful owner of the site is helping publicize Dab the AIDS Bear attending the POZ magazine fund raiser for the AIDS Walk New York on the 13th and the walk on the 15th. A huge bear hug and thank you to Giovanni!
I am so psyched about Dab the AIDS Bear becoming a symbol of hope for our community since he has been around since the start of the epidemic. For those of you who do not know I started giving teddy bears to friends because in the beginning AIDS (GRID) patients were quarantined and when they died their possession were incinerated. I did not want my friends to die alone and at least with one of my teddy bears they had something to hold since no one would touch them. So many died without the gift of even the most basic human touch, my first boyfriend did.
Wow, remember that just brought back a deluge of horrible and painful memories of the 80s and early 90s. People with HIV dying without much hope. My how things have changed. I look forward to when there is a cure and this will all be just in history books.
Well I can dream. I am still hopeful it will happen during my lifetime so I get to see the day.
Wishing you health, hope and happiness.
big bear hug,
