Welcome back from another day in my life! Thank God It's Friday. It's been a long week. The weather is now reaching the 90s in Jacksonville, Florida and the humidity is reaching summer limits. Luckily we did have a pretty good constant breeze today to help keep the heat down. We've now reached the point where I start sweating within seconds of walking outside so I try not to be out in the sun between 11am and 2pm when the ultraviolet rays are the strongest. I don't need to get burned and definitely don't need any help getting more wrinkles! LOL But overall it was a really nice and comfortable day outside.
Patrick came over this morning around 9:30am to drive me to my primary care doctors' office in Arlington for my bi-monthly appointment. Dr. Portalatin's office is located behind Regency Mall which is about 15 miles from my house. The doctors was running way behind so they were around an hour late getting me back for my appointment. Doc and I covered all the current problems from the neuropathy, tendon problems in my right arm, weight loss and lack of energy. He gave me a new prescription for the pain, a patch to help with the right arm tendon problem and a pep speech about keeping my weight up. I've been seeing Dr. Portalatin whenever I have lived in Florida on and off for the past 18 years. I was his first HIV/AIDS patient after he retired from military service. He's been a great doctor and I will definitely be staying with him as a patient until he retires or I move elsewhere.
After leaving Dr. Portalatin's office, we drove over to Regency Mall and decided to have lunch at Chik Fillet where I had the chicken strip combo meal. It may not have been very healthy but at least there should be a ton of calories in the meal. Then Patrick and I walked over to Old Navy where I found a present for Gary and a pair of sweat pants for myself. Patrick was getting tired so we decided not to walk around the mall and left for the car.
Then we headed to Publix to get my grocery shopping done. The frig at home is almost empty and I had nothing to fix for dinner tonight. Gary has also started taking some food for lunch to help save money while he saves up for his scooter so I needed to get a ton of yogurt. Patrick and I ran into several people we knew since it was around lunch time and packed in the store and this is the only grocery store for about 10 miles. I wish they would have more cashiers during lunch time so the lines would be shorter. The parking lot situation is even worse because around Publix is a strip mall with restaurants and shops which has everyone fighting for the limited number of parking spots during lunch time and right after work.
Then we stopped by the dry cleaners on the way back to my place to pick up my comforter and drop off the fake fur throw the dogs use as a bed. My friend Pam was off today so I told her co-worker to give her a hug for me. We also talked a lot about what's going on in Patrick's life and with his family. We also talked about Gary and the status of our relationship. I always find out the most interesting tidbits by speaking with Patrick. Definitely helps me keep my head cleared of rose colored glasses. Anyway... more about that soon I'm sure.
Then I came home and let the dogs outside while I put the groceries up in the kitchen. It was so hot outside by that time I couldn't see going out for some sun. I'd be covered in sweat with a couple of minutes. So I stayed inside and worked on this website while spending some time with my pets. Now for those of you in the north, we already have to run the air conditioners in Florida this time of year which for some of you I know you're still dealing with snow from the last storm.
After Gary returned home from work, I made a broccoli quiche for dinner with a tossed salad. We spent the rest of the evening winding down from our day and spent some time watching Daily Show with Jon Stewart and the Colbert Report. Both covered the news about Senator Hillary Clinton conceding her bid for the presidential Democratic nomination after several super delegates switched from Clinton to Obama. Obama is making the statement he is ahead in all the counts so Clinton should give up. I personally hope she will stay in until after the Oregon and West Virginia primaries in a few weeks.
Falling asleep as I type this so I am headed off to dream land. I hope you had a great day today also. Wishing you health, hope and happiness.
Big bear hug,
