ADAP

Welcome to another day in my life. Today is Friday and we have almost made it through another work week. I hope you are having a safe and great weekend so far.

It is another busy day for Dab the AIDS Bear and me. Trying to get a bunch of errands done and packed before leaving for Pensacola, Florida. It will be great to visit my hometown again and see old friends and family.

Last evening, there was a great turnout for the RedTie Affair in Jacksonville, Florida which benefited our Teddy Bear Touchdown for children with HIV and AIDS. We would like to thank everyone who came out to show their support and make a donation. I would personally like to thank William Herndon for all his hard work in setting up the events, prizes and promotion. It is because of great people like William that we are able to bring hope and joy to the kids during the holidays.

Now I would like to talk about ADAP and other Ryan White funding. I am so frustrated and upset right now. I have been reading a ton of emails from people on waiting lists for services from around our country. Now I am not saying other countries do not need help with HIV and AIDS. I am just saying we should be taking care of our own men, women and children first.

Now we are getting even worse news concerning funding. Supposedly not only are we not get the increase in funding we have been asking for but there will be even more cuts to the programs. Honestly, this is just too much. How do our elected officials expect people to fight the war with HIV and AIDS if they do not have the resources. For those of you who do not have HIV, it can cost up to $4000 a month between the medications, blood test, doctor visits etc and that is just for HIV. If you have co-infections or other health problems, it is even more expensive.

So as soon as I get done with our Teddy Bear Touchdowns for the kids this year, I will be heading back to Washington DC to see what Dab the AIDS Bear and I can do about the funding problems. Please keep Americans with HIV and AIDS in your thoughts and prayers. They are going to need it.

I hope you have a safe and fantastic weekend. Until we meet again; here's wishing you health, hope, happiness and just enough.

big bear hug,

Daddy Dab
