Today was our monthly meeting of the BCC Patient Advisory Board. There is just so much work to do there. It's one of my dreams to make that place where people want to go there for health care. If the financially challenged part of my community is more or less relinquished to using a facility, I at least want to make it a place where they can improve the quality of their health.
Hopefully, we will be opening a resource center at BCC to help the community in their goal for better health. We've asked for a small space with a telephone, computer and printed materials. Dr. Hilliard the new interim Executive Director has stated that shouldn't be a problem. The goal is to open right after the first of next year.
I'm also going to work with a committee to rewrite to new patient orientation for BCC. The one they are currently using in over 7 years old and out of date.
After waiting a few hours at BCC after the meeting, I had a dentist appointment. The staff in the dental clinic is so helpful and friendly. They do run behind on their schedules often; but by utilizing excellent customer service at least it validates the patients.
Finally got home around 4:30pm and had to add some items to the website from the meeting. My old friend Cheryl came by the house to drop off the free tickets to be raffled off at the HIV community luncheon to attend their First Coast Chorus concert the first weekend in December. The chorus will be performing the AIDS Aria which is one of my favorite pieces. Our volunteers will be working the front door and during the reception we will have an HIV education table.
Watched one of the other few shows that I enjoy... Ugly Betty. Such a well written and produced show... and one of the few that actually holds my attention. So much television now is just junk and my life is way too busy to waste it sitting in front of the boob tube all day.
I hope all of you had a great Thursday!
Big bear hug,
