Art 4 AIDS Awareness

Welcome to another day in my life. Today is Friday and we have almost made it through another work week. Dab the AIDS Bear and I are in Pensacola, Florida and I hope you are having a safe and great week so far.

Woke up late this morning and was slow getting my day started. Luckily, I did not have any appointments, meetings or public appearances until this evening. So it gave me some free time to spend with my Dad while I am here.

Dad and I have had some great conversations while I have been here. Luckily, he is doing a little better since I arrived. I was very worried when I first saw how much pain he was having. But with each passing day, he seems to be feeling a little better. Because I live so far away, my biggest concern is the fact he lives by himself. If something happened to him there is not anyone here at the house to help. So I will probably talk to him about getting Life Alert or a similar services so all he has to do is press a button on a device to get help.

Then it was time to take a shower and get ready for the event this evening for Art for AIDS Awareness in downtown Pensacola. When I showed up at 5pm there was a small crowd and I had plenty of time to speak with the members of the organization and the perforers for the evening. Around 6:30, the place was packed and the auction ended up being a huge success. Most of the art ended up being sold and everyone had a great time. I also ran into a couple of old friends I knew from when I lived in Pensacola in the 1970s. Glad to know a few of them are still around and doing well.

Then the group asked me to join them for a little bit at a local spot. So we went there but quickly I was getting tired and I know I have to be up extra early in the morning for the walk. Luckily, my Dad lives near downtown in the historical district so it was a short and quick drive to his house. So now I am home and doing my blog then jumping into bed. I just do not function well if I do not get at least seven or eight hours of sleep. But especially when I am having to give a speech early the next morning.

Hope you are having a great start to your weekend. Until we meet again; here's wishing you health, hope, happiness and just enough.

big bear hug,

Daddy Dab
