Last Day in Pensacola

Welcome to another day in my life. Today is Sunday and I hope you are having a safe and great weekend so far. It has been a great weekend for Dab the AIDS Bear and me while visiting our hometown of Pensacola, Florida.

Today is our last day in Pensacola and visitng my Dad. While I am ready to get home to my family, friends and pets, I am also sad to be leaving my Dad. We do not get to see aach other very often because we live several hundred miles apart. With Dad getting up there in age, I wish I could be up here more often. But we have had some great talks while I have been home.

Spent most of the day here at the house. Got caught up on most of my email but I am having to wait until I get back to south Florida before I process the pictures I and others have taken during the past week. So stay tuned for upcoming slide shows and pictures in the next couple of weeks.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for all the love and hospitality they showed Dab the AIDS Bear and me this past week. It has been a great visit and I really enjoyed my time here. I also enjoyed visiting a lot of the places and friends I knew from my childhood. But I have to admit I know why I moved away many years ago and still think it was the right idea.

Number one reason is because of the quality of health care and services in the area. I probably never would have lived this long if I had stayed here. Number two is this is still a conservative city. While it is a little more gay friendly thank it was when I was growing up, it is not nearly as so as where I live. But it is a beautiful small city with fantastic beaches.

Of course, you never have enough time to see everyone you would like to or get to all the locations you would like. I unfortunately did not make it out to Pensacola Beach. I have only seen it once since the major hurricane hit sevearl years ago. The house my grandparents built in the 1930's is gone along with most of the other buildings from when I was a kids. Hopefully, I will make it out there the next time I visit.

Going to finish packing, spend some more time with Dad and get everything ready to leave in the morning. I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a great week.

Until we meet again; here's wishing you health, hope, happiness and just enough.

big bear hug,

Daddy Dab
