A Day of Rest

Thanks for stopping by to see what is going on in another day of my life. Today is Sunday and I hope you are having a safe and great end to your Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Yesterday, I drove from Ft. Lauderdale to Jacksonville which was a very long and tiring drive. The road was packed with holiday travelers and I was worn out by the time I finally got to Jacksonville. Now I remember why I usually do not drive anywhere on major holidays. So if you are traveling today, I hope you have a safe trip.

Today, I am getting everything ready for World AIDS Week. Since I am on the World AIDS Week committee here in Jacksonville, I attend almost every event we have during the week. So that means 10 events in one week which is a stretch at my age and health status.

I had a few errands to run. I had to return my rent a car at the airport. Then I had to go get a haircut which was overdue. Then it was time to print up my handouts for the session I am doing on Thursday at our Connections Conference. I am doing a breakout session on activism and social networking.

I also had to get the items I received at our office ready for the silent auction at the Red Tie Affair on Friday evening at the Metro. The Red Tie Affair is a fundraiser that William Herndon has set up to help us raise money. Some great friends of mine have donated a few items.

John Medeiros donated a couple of his beautiful framed pride photographs. Alina Oswald donated a couple of her autographed signed books. Albert Brooks donated a beautiful necklace. Vicki Wengrow donated a certificate for one of her wonderful massages. A friend of Kengi's donated a beautiful ceramic bowl. Forest donated a massage seat. I know William has been hard at work getting some donations from Best Buy. So hopefully we will have a good turnout and raise some much needed donations.

I am also looking forward to seeing Shawn Decker and Gwen Barringer. They are the main speakers at our Awards Banquet on Monday and two of our Ambassadors of Hope at the project. They are also friends who I am looking forward to spending some time with before the banquet.

It is also great to be home and get to spend some time with my pets... Harley, Chipper, Sugar and Kitty. I have not been home much the past three months so I always enjoy spending some time with them when I do get home. Luckily they have not forgotten me and knock me down with love when I come through the door.

I am missing my other half, George, like crazy. We are used to spending time together and it will be almost ten days before we see each other again. Thank God for cell phones, emails and text messaging. I am glad I have an all included policy on my cell phone or I would have a huge bill. So here's a big bear hug to my boy and I can not wait to have you in my arms again.

I have a ton to get done so I am going to close for today. I hope you had a safe and great holiday weekend. Drop me a line and let me know.

Until we meet again; here's wishing you health, hope and happiness.

big bear hug,

Daddy Dab
