Donations in Randy's Memory
Welcome to another day in my life. Today is Monday and I hope you had a safe and great Thanksgiving weekend.
As many of you know Randy Allgaier passed away on the day after Thanksgiving. I have received many emails asking whether I knew what Lee and the family wanted people to do and here is the answer from Lee:
There have been so many people who have asked where to either send flowers or donate to charities. I have decided to list two of Randy’s favorites.
Pets Are Wonderful Support (PAWS) was one of his favorites. It was because of our little ...beagle boy Darwin, that Randy became involved with PAWS. He served on their board of directors, including a stint as their president. He helped usher PAWS through a short bumpy part and helped them build their organization to what it is today. It was also through PAWS that Randy was able to meet many wonderful people, one of whom is Christine Kent. She became a friend to both of us. She was one of our “People of Honor” at our wedding two years ago. She has also helped me through this time of stress with Randy’s sickness and death. Thank you Christine.
Shanti is the other worthy cause to which you may contribute in Randy’s memory. Some of you may remember that Shanti is where Randy and I met in 1988. We were both volunteers there. I was assisting in training a new batch of volunteers in July of that year and Randy was among them. We began dating later that summer and by September were falling in love. It was an amazing time. 1988 was a time in San Francisco when AIDS was raging, and here we were trying to live a life that made sense for us. Twenty two years later Randy found himself returning to Shanti as an employee. He was thrilled to come full circle.
Below I have provided you the websites as well as the snail mail addresses for both PAWS and Shanti. On the website you can donate directly using your credit card, or you may choose to send your donations via US mail. Either way works just fine. If you send a check, please make sure there’s a notation thereon making it in Randy’s memory. The correct spelling of his name is Randy Allgaier.

Thanks to all who have asked for this information. If there is half the outpouring of donations that there has been of messages these two great organizations will be thrilled.
Until we meet again; here's wishing you health, hope, happiness and just enough.
