Today we had the World AIDS Week Award Banquet. Beth came back to pick me up and we arrived at the Wyndham Jacksonville Riverwalk around 11:15am. The Banquet was held in the Grand Ballroom. The entrance to the ballroom and the inside were decorated with the AIDS ribbon. There were an ice and balloon sculptures.
Everyone looked so nice and in a great mood for the event. I was busy taking pictures (seen below) and trying to meet contacts. I was lucky enough to meet Jenny Blaylock from Channel 4 and our guest speaker Patricia Russell-McCloud. Both women are dynamic in their own ways and contribute so much to their various communities.
There were several awards given out and several of my friends were winners... Paul from NFAN, Pat Alexander and Peaches were all recognized for their contributions. I was so proud of all three of them and feel honored to call them friends.
So it turned out to be another great event during our World AIDS Week Events. Chenita and Shannon did such an excellent job this year and the whole committee has worked so hard. It makes it that much nicer when everything turns out so well and everyone gets to enjoy the week.
Hope that all of you have a great weekend. Tomorrow is another busy day with the project having a HIV information table at the main library and then the memorial service and candlelight march tomorrow evening.
Wishing all of you health, hope and happiness.
Big bear hug,
