Start of World AIDS Week

Thanks for stopping by to check out another day in my life. Today is Monday and the start of a very long week for me. See in Jacksonville, we do an entire week of events around World AIDS Day and I am involved in all of the events.

So today was our World AIDS Day Award Banquet which I look forward to every year. We have around 350 individuals attend the event. This year our main speaker was a friend of mine and one of the project's Ambassadors of Hope, Shawn Decker. His other half Gwen Barringer came with him so it was great getting to see both of them. We actually met before the luncheon to have some private time and catch up which was great. The luncheon also gives me an opportunity to see people from our community who I rarely get to see.

After getting there to spend some time with Shawn and Gwen, it was all too soon time for the luncheon to begin. This year, I was sitting at the Lutheran Social Services table.

Shawn and Gwen did a great job with their presentation. Their message is so vital since they are heterosexual and sero-discordant. Gwen is HIV negative and Shawn is HIV positive. He has hemophilia and was infected as a child by blood products in the early 80s while still in grade school. They were informative, entertaining and do a great job. I would highly recommend them for your event.

I was ready for a nap by the time the banquet was over so I came home and crashed with the pets. Missing my other half even more than I thought I would. So while I am enjoying our events, I am constantly looking for him to be in the room with me. Amazing how you do not realize how much you enjoy being with someone until you are away from them.

After my nap, I worked on my presentation for the Connections Conference on Thursday. I am very busy on Tuesday and Wednesday with multiple event so I needing to get things finished today.

Heading to bed so I get get a good night's sleep. Hope you are having a safe and great week so far!

Until we meet again; here's wishing you health, hope and happiness.
