Well it's raining in Jacksonville again folks... IMAGINE... the streets in several neighborhood have flooded now. It makes me glad that I don't drive anymore. Between the way people drive now days (one of my pet peeves) and the weather lately, you're taking your life into your own hands every time you get behind a wheel.
Spoke with an old friends today that has been HIV positive as long as I have. He recently fell at a bank on slippery floors which caused a bad concussion. The blow to his head was so severe that for a couple of days they thought he had a stroke. He was severely hurt but at least it wasn't a stroke.
I also spoke with a young woman today who just found out she's HIV positive. She's only 19. The doctor's are telling her that she has probably been positive for several years due to her current health status. Her immune cells (T cells) are below 100 which means she is vulnerable to a host of opportunistic infections.(OIs) See HIV and AIDS don't kill you.... they kill your immune system so badly then when something like a case of the flu or any opportunistic infection can be fatal.
She cried for a long time. She feels isolated. That she can't speak to anyone about it. She lives in a very small town and has only had one boyfriend for several years. Her boyfriend is also just found out and confessed that he had slept with other women while away at college.
I just wished I could have been there to give her a shoulder... a hug...
It is so important to use a condom EVERY SINGLE TIME if you want to prevent HIV if you're not going to abstain from sex. It's just not worth catching HIV... I don't care how cute or charming they are.
Wishing all of you health, happiness and hope,
Big bear hug,
